Greater Darwin: Urgent Info Needed on Aggravated Burglary

Northern Territory Police are continuing to call for information in relation to 27-year-old man Jermaine Shane Austral, who they believe can assist with an ongoing investigation.

Mr Austral has been actively avoiding police since an incident on the 22 October 2023.

Investigations into his whereabouts resulted in detectives deploying into Katherine late Wednesday afternoon. Enquiries conducted in the area led to information indicating Mr Austral had driven his sliver Suburb Forester into the town of Batchelor, where he was residing.

Yesterday morning, The Territory Response Group, Negotiators, The Dog Operations Unit, Serious Crime Squad and Strike Force Trident all deployed to a residence in Batchelor where a cordon was established.

Mr Austral was not located within the cordon, however, his vehicle was located nearby, with evidence suggesting he had fled into bushland.

Patrol Dog Drax searched the area late into Thursday night, however, Mr Austral remains outstanding.

Detective Sergeant Michael Ordelman said "We believe Mr Austral is now on foot and most likely somewhere in the greater Batchelor area. Significant resourcing has deployed to locate Mr Austral."

"We would remind the public not to approach Mr Austral and if sighted to immediately contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference 23292486."

"You can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000."
