Bundaberg Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have charged a man following an alleged tomahawk attack and unrelated assault in Bundaberg South yesterday afternoon, Thursday September 1.
Around 4pm a man entered a Buchan Court address allegedly armed with two tomahawks and assaulted a man, striking him multiple times.
The victim sustained serious wounds to his hands, torso and head and remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The man fled the scene and was apprehended a short time later at nearby Flint Street.
Prior to his arrest, police will further allege the man was behaving in a threatening manner toward teenagers engaged in sport and women exercising on Flint Street around 4.15pm, including following a woman to her vehicle and assaulting her by striking her with a belt.
The local woman aged in her twenties did not require hospitalisation.
A 41-year-old Bundaberg South man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault and enter dwelling with intent by break while armed.
He was denied police bail and appeared in Bundaberg Magistrates Court today, Friday September 2.
The man and the two victims weren't known to each other, there is no ongoing threat to the community.
