Got a project, event or community initiative that needs support? Community groups, event organisers, individuals and local businesses seeking financial assistance now have a simpler pathway to access Council support, following the adoption of Griffith City Council's new Griffith Community Investment Policy (CC-CP-600).
The new policy consolidates several existing funding programs into a single framework, making it easier for applicants to understand available funding opportunities and apply for support. It brings together community grants, event sponsorship, small business assistance and community organisation rate subsidies under one policy.
Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran said the policy would improve consistency, transparency and accessibility for those seeking Council funding.
"Whether you're planning an event, delivering a community project, pursuing individual achievement or growing a local business, this new framework provides a clearer and more streamlined way to access Council support," Mayor Curran said.
The policy was developed following a comprehensive review of Council's financial assistance programs. It establishes a consistent governance framework while retaining dedicated guidelines for each funding stream, including community grants, event sponsorship, small business assistance and community organisation rate subsidies.
During the public exhibition period, one internal submission and two public submissions were received. The policy was subsequently renamed the Griffith Community Investment Policy to better reflect its purpose and avoid confusion with external grant programs.
The adoption of the policy also allows Council to streamline its governance framework by replacing several superseded policies with a single, overarching document.
