Growing Our Economic Future

Monash Women's Business Network 2025 September panel: 2 women sitting on stage, one of them holding a microphone and speaking

Monash is home to more than 25,000 businesses, from multinational companies and advanced manufacturers to local traders and sole operators.

In 2025, we asked businesses what they saw as the issues and opportunities for our local economy.

The key themes were clear: more networking and events, attracting investment, and bringing more visitors to Monash.

Supporting local businesses

Osteopath and Morinease Health founder Wendy Morin has seen the benefits of Council's business programs firsthand: "I'm incredibly grateful for the support from programs like the Monash Women's Business Network. It has provided clarity, direction, networking and real opportunities that have positively transformed my business."

"It's helped me expand my professional network. I've connected with an aged care advisory service that aligns closely with my work with seniors, enabling mutual referrals and support for our clients.

"Building these connections has been one of the most valuable outcomes of attending Council's business events."

A vision for Monash's economic future

To support business owners like Wendy, we've drafted a 4-year Economic Development Strategy with actions to grow our local economy, and guide how we deliver programs and initiatives that support local businesses.

Now we want to hear from you.

Do the actions in our draft strategy reflect the needs of our business community? Let us know before 10 June on Shape Monash.
