Guideline on pronunciation of names and forms of address

AAT

On 28 April 2023, the acting President of the AAT approved a Guideline on pronunciation of names and forms of address.

The AAT is one of the first courts and tribunals in Australia to develop a guideline of this type.

This initiative stems from our commitment to acknowledging that a person's name is integral to their sense of identity and can reflect a person's national, linguistic, religious and family roots.

We are in the process of updating our forms and procedures to incorporate the new Guideline. In the meantime, people applying to the AAT and the representatives who support them are encouraged to use the approach in their dealings with us.
