Gun and drugs found at Wingfield

A man and woman were arrested after police located a loaded firearm and drugs at Wingfield yesterday.

About 11am on Thursday 28 July, Western District Police with assistance from STAR Group officers, attended and searched an industrial property on Princes Street.

During the search, officers located a loaded prescribed (homemade) pistol and ammunition. A quantity of a substance suspected to be methamphetamine along with scales, cash, ice pipes, and cannabis was also found along with a Taser and extendable baton.

While there, a 35-year-old man from Wingfield was seen attempting to leave through a hole in the side wall of the building but was apprehended and arrested.

A 30-year-old woman of no fixed address was also arrested at the scene.

The pair were charged with trafficking a controlled drug (Aggravated), possessing a prescribed firearm (Aggravated), contravening a provision of a code of practice (x2), and possessing a prohibited weapon and dangerous article.

The woman was further charged with breaching her home detention bail.

Both were refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today. CO2200022780
