Hampton Beach: Place Where Everyone Can Play

The newly upgraded playground at Hampton Foreshore is now open, delivering a vibrant, inclusive and more accessible place for people of all abilities to come together to play, relax and enjoy.

The refreshed play space features a range of engaging, child-friendly elements, including a climbing boat, sand pulley system, digger and interactive water play. With additional shade installed throughout, the space offers a safer, more comfortable setting for children to explore, imagine and connect with the coastal environment.

As part of a broader foreshore improvement project, Council has worked closely with the Hampton Life Saving Club to ensure the upgrade reflects the needs of the community and improves access for everyone. The result is a thoughtfully designed space that enhances both accessibility and safety, while respecting the natural beauty of the foreshore.

Visitors can now enjoy easier access thanks to a new accessible ramp, upgraded pathways and carefully considered landscaping that supports and protects the coastal environment. These improvements make it simpler for people of all ages and abilities to move through the area and enjoy everything the foreshore has to offer.

Further works are underway to deliver accessible off-street car parking to help improve access to the Hampton Life Saving Club. As part of these works, the Bay Trail will be realigned where it crosses the new car park access point, creating a safer and more seamless experience for all users. There will be no changes to Beach Road as part of this realignment.

During the patrol season (typically December to early April), a beach wheelchair and accessible matting are available, helping ensure the beach can be enjoyed by people of all abilities. The Hampton Life Saving Club's program, the Starfish Nippers, also continue to provide inclusive opportunities for children of all abilities to get involved, build confidence and enjoy the water.

This project supports Council's commitment to improving accessibility across Bayside's foreshore.
