Have your say on Nightcliff Foreshore Exercise Stations

Consultation on exercise stations on the Nightcliff Foreshore is now open for community feedback.

City of Darwin is upgrading the exercise stations at Nightcliff and is eager to hear from the community on what they would like to see at the well-used location.

"Come 5pm, the Nightcliff Foreshore transforms into a hub of activity with the community coming out in force to get their daily exercise and fresh air fix," said Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis.

"We want to hear from the community on what outdoor exercise equipment they would like to see at the Foreshore and what could be done better to encourage even more use of the already popular exercise stations."

"City of Darwin is committed to ensuring the Nightcliff Foreshore has the best possible facilities to encourage people to get out and get moving."

The Australian Department of Health recommends adults engage in a minimum of 2.5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity each week and do muscle strengthening activities twice a week.

Nightcliff Foreshore currently has seven exercise stations along an 'exercise trail' that are due for an upgrade as the equipment is near the end of its life.

The current trail is designed to give users an all-over workout regardless of which end of the trail they begin at. The stations are spread out between Sunset Park and the Rapid Creek footbridge. City of Darwin would like to know what exercise equipment and configuration of stations to form the trail the community would like to see.

Consultation will run until 3 March 2019 with those who fill out the survey going into the running to win one of five $50 vouchers to a local sports store.
