Hawkesbury Launches Heatwave Health Risk Reduction Initiative

Disaster risk reduction eventAn event about heatwaves and health was held recently at Strong Nation Church in Windsor. This event was a partnership between Council's Bright Ideas to Build Resilience Project staff, Council's environmental sustainability staff, the Hawkesbury Community Nursery, St Johns Ambulance and Strong Nation Church.

Council received positive feedback from the collaborative event. The 44 participants from community groups, agencies and local organisations gained an understanding of heat related illness and its impacts, where to get help and resources.

They also developed community-led solutions during a workshop run by Andrew North, senior paramedic St Johns Ambulance, and Jack Kensey, Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, Hawkesbury City Council.
