Looking for a convenient way to scan your collection of family photos? Wanting to start a podcast but can't afford to buy the equipment and have nowhere to record? Look no further than Hawkesbury Library Service who has launched its brand-new Technology Hub at Central Library, Windsor.
The new technology hub offers Hawkesbury Library members better access to IT facilities, improving technological, digital and production opportunities for all ages.
Backed by $200,000 in grant funding from the NSW Government under the Public Library Infrastructure Grant program, this impressive space includes a re-furbished Computer Room, a branch new Digitisation Room and Production Studio.
Building works for this major project began in October 2025, and over the last four months Hawkesbury Library Service has gradually opened each of these spaces to the public. The Computer Room was the first to re-open, after refurbishing the walls and adding brand-new furniture, allowing computer users more privacy and better desk space for working. No bookings are required to use this space.
In February this year, the new Digitisation Room opened for bookings by Library members, offering specialised archiving equipment. In here members can access powerful scanners to archive family photos, books, film negatives, and slides, and even convert old DVDs and cassette tapes into digital files.
The highly anticipated Production Studio is now also open for bookings, completing the building phase of the project. This new space, formed from part of the previous computer room, is a sound-proofed room equipped with a four-person podcasting kit including microphones, headphones and a soundboard. Here users can produce high-quality sound recordings without the expense of buying their own equipment. The space also includes a range of seating options and additional lighting equipment for those who may want to record video podcasts or interviews.
