Warm Spell Ends in Southeast: Weather Forecast

Now, the south-east has been treated to some warm weather this weekend, but unfortunately, that's coming to an end thanks to this cold front that will bring showers and even some possible small hail.

Now, a southerly change will then race up the east coast of New South Wales throughout the day, whereas these onshore winds across the tropical north may bring a few peppering of showers through the region.

Out in the west, showers and storms are expected to gradually extend towards the south-west and into southern areas as well.

So let's go around to the country, taking a closer look, state by state, we'll start off with Queensland.

Now, tomorrow is expected to be a generally dry and sunny day across the majority of the state, with maximum temperatures within a few degrees of average. There is just the chance of a shower through eastern districts north of about Rockhampton, but tending scattered at times about the north-east tropical coast. For Brisbane, a dry and sunny day with a top of 27 °C.

Moving onto New South Wales, we do have that southerly and cool change that will race up the east coast, bringing with it some instability, some showers about the southern ranges and the south coast extending northwards. Now, as it reaches the mid-north coast, however, it will combine with the afternoon heating, so it does bring with it a risk of an afternoon thunderstorm. Further inland however, dry and sunny conditions, we have north-westerly winds bringing warm conditions across the north and the north-east, but considerably cooler across southern parts in the wake of that front. For Sydney, a mostly sunny morning and then the chance of a gusty shower during the afternoon and evening. A top of 24 °C, while for Canberra, a partly cloudy day and a top of 19 °C.

Now, Victoria did have a really warm and lovely weekend, but unfortunately that is ending tomorrow with that cold front bringing showers and possible small hail to generally near and south of the ranges.It will gradually clear from the south-west during the day. For Melbourne, showers and possible small hail are expected to develop from late morning, continuing into the afternoon, with a maximum of 14 °C, but it will feel much cooler than that in those gusty south-westerly winds.

Moving onto Tasmania, we've got scattered showers with possible small hail throughout western and southern parts and bringing snow down to low levels. In fact, we have issued a Road Weather and Bushwalkers Alert with potential snow down to 400 metres. So please do take care. For Hobart, a cloudy day with showers and a top of 13 °C.

Moving onto South Australia, there is isolated light showers that are possible across the agricultural areas, but as well throughout that very far north-west. Maximum temperatures in the mid to high teens across coastal areas, but grading to the mid to high 20s as we head further inland. For Adelaide, a cloudy day with a slight chance of a shower and a top of 17 °C.

Moving onto WA, we've got these scattered showers and storms that will gradually extend into southern and south-western parts, warm in the west but much cooler in the south-east. For Perth, a mostly sunny day with the risk of a morning thunderstorm, a top of 27 °C.

Moving onto our tropical north, we've just got a chance of showers throughout coastal areas across the Kimberley, the Top End and the Carpentaria, and as well just the chance of a shower or storm throughout the very far south-west of the Northern Territory. Elsewhere, however, through the interior, dry and sunny conditions. For Darwin, a slight chance of an early morning shower and then a mostly sunny afternoon, a top of 35 °C.
