Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is planning to conduct a Hazard Reduction burn in Eleebana on Friday 4 September, weather permitting.

The Boatmans Row hazard reduction burn will take place in the vicinity of 10A Moani Street, Eleebana between 10am and 4pm.

The operation will depend on suitable weather conditions. If weather conditions are unfavourable on the day the burn will be postponed.

Safety precautions

As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:

  • Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
  • Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
  • Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
  • Remove washing from clotheslines
  • Ensure pets have a protected area
  • If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on
  • Obey the instructions of traffic controllers and emergency services
  • If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities
  • Never fly drones or Remote Piloted Aircraft near bush fires of hazard reductions, where other aircraft may be operating. Penalties apply.
  • If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
