The NSW Rural Fire Service is planning to conduct hazard reduction burns at Freemans Waterhole, Wyee and Wyee Point between Friday 26 and Sunday 28 September, weather permitting.
Rosco Club Stage 2 Hazard Reduction - Freemans Waterhole
The Rosco Club Stage 2 HR, west of Freemans Drive, Freemans Waterhole is scheduled for Sunday 28 September between 9:30am and 6pm. The Rosco Club Stage 2 HR is located to the west of Freemans Drive, Freemans Waterhole and north and east of Awaba State Forest and covers 2 hectares.
Mt Alison HR stage 3 Hazard Reduction - Alison
The Mt Alison HR Stage 3, west of Hue Hue Road, Alison is scheduled for Friday 26 September between 9:30am and 6pm. The Mt Alison HR Stage 3 is located to the west of Hue Hue Road, Alison, and north and east of Dicksons Road, Alison and covers 11 hectares.
Larapinta South Hazard Reduction - Wyee Point
The Larapinta South HR, south of Saddlers Way, Wyee Point is scheduled for Saturday 27 September between 9:30am and 6pm. The Larapinta South HR is located to the south of Saddlers Way, the west of Government Road, and north of Larapinta Drive, Wyee Point and covers 41 hectares.
Harwood Hazard Reduction - Kulnura
The Harwood HR, east of George Downes Drive, Kulnura is scheduled for Saturday 27 September at 9:30am and is expected to be completed by Sunday 28 September. The Harwood HR is located to the east of George Downes Drive, north of Yorky Waters Road, Kulnura and covers 35 hectares.
Delta F Hazard Reduction - Wyee
The Delta F HR, north of Darlingup Road, Wyee is scheduled for Sunday 28 September between 9:30am and 6pm. The Delta F HR is located to the north of Darlingup Road, and the east of Jabbarup Road, Wyee and covers 9 hectares.
Woodbury Hazard Reduction - Mardi
The Woodbury HR, north of Wyong Road, Mardi is scheduled for Friday 26 September between 9:30am and 6pm. The Woodbury HR is located to the north of Wyong Road, south and west of Woodbury Park Drive, and east of the M1 Motorway, Mardi and covers 12 hectares.
These activities will consist of prescribed burning of vegetation to reduce the bush fire fuel and assist in reducing the intensity and adverse impact of bush fires in extreme weather conditions.
Safety precautions
- As the prescribed burn will generate smoke, hot embers and heat, it is important that you consider the following:
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes
- Keep outdoor furniture under cover to prevent ember burns
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clotheslines
- Ensure pets have a protected area
- If you are driving a vehicle, slow down, keep windows up and turn headlights on
- If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities. If smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice.
