Hazard reduction operation, properties evacuated Manly

Numerous properties have been evacuated in North Sydney following a scheduled hazard reduction operation.

About 2pm today (Saturday 17 October 2020), emergency services were called to North Head, Manly following reports that a scheduled hazard reduction operation of the area by National Parks and Wildlife Service assisted by Fire and Rescue NSW, had jumped containment lines.

The fire is not currently threatening homes, however officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended to assist with the evacuation of commercial premises and residential properties.

Anyone living in the area is advised to remain in their homes and shut windows until alerted to do otherwise.

It is advised to avoid the area, with many roads and tracks closed to motorists and pedestrians.
