Victorians will continue to be denied the world-class healthcare they deserve as one of Labor's worst-performing Ministers, Harriet Shing, is placed in charge of Victoria's health system.
Since June 2022, Harriet Shing's record across major portfolios is defined by cost blowouts, missed targets and a lack of transparency, raising genuine concerns about the impact her promotion will have on Victoria's already strained health system.
As Minister for Commonwealth Games Legacy, Minister Shing left Victorian taxpayers with a $600 million bill to cancel the games, while regional communities missed out on jobs, tourism and critical infrastructure across Ballarat, Geelong, Bendigo and Gippsland.
As Minister for the Suburban Rail Loop, Minister Shing has repeatedly refused to release the latest costing for this $34.5 billion project, adequately explain how it will be paid for or provide proper transparency for the most expensive transport infrastructure project in Victoria's history.
As Minister for Housing, Minister Shing has overseen an $800 million cost blowout on Labor's so-called "Big Housing Build" as more than 56,000 Victorians await social housing.
Shadow Minister for Health, Georgie Crozier, said: "Harriet Shing is part of the Government's spin machine to con Victorians with empty promises.
"Victoria's health system remains under enormous pressure as a result of the mismanagement by the Allan Labor Government. Victorians deserve a Minister solely focused on improving health outcomes and fixing a broken health system.
"The appointment of Harriet Shing as Minister for Health will only mean poorer outcomes for a system already under enormous strain.
"Labor's time is up. Only our Liberal and Nationals team will deliver the world-class healthcare Victorians deserve."
