Helicopter crash, NSW

Emergency services are on the scene of a helicopter crash in the state’s Alpine Region, NSW Police say.

About 2.30pm (17 April 2018), a helicopter with a single pilot on board crashed in remote bushland in Cabramurra.

It is understood the helicopter caught fire after the crash, which has been extinguished.

The pilot and only occupant, a 45-year-old man, escaped with head lacerations.

He is currently with a paramedic and it is expected he will be winched out of the site and taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment.

A Snowy Hydro Emergency Response Team has been deployed to the site for HAZMAT purposes.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been notified about the crash, and will deploy an investigation team to the site.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
