Campbelltown's recycling mascot is looking for a name, and we're calling on our youngest residents to help us find it.

All children from Kindergarten to Year 6, who attend a primary school within the Campbelltown Local Government Area are invited to take part in the Name our Bin Buddy mascot naming competition.

Running from Tuesday 5 August to Monday 1 September, the competition encourages children to get creative and join the mission to make recycling fun, engaging, and easy to understand.

There will be one winner and two runners up, with each receiving a fun prize pack. The winner will also receive a gift voucher, a visit from the mascot, and a school assembly presentation.

The winning student's class will receive a fully funded, interactive recycling education session, delivered by an experienced external educator, at no cost to the school.

"Giving our young residents the chance to name our recycling mascot is a fun way to get them thinking about the importance of recycling and the role we all play in reducing waste," Mayor of Campbelltown, Darcy Lound said.

"Supporting schools with waste education programs like the ones we offer is more than just the competition, it's about helping our young people build lifelong habits that protect our environment and strengthen our community's future," Cr Lound said.

Additionally, as a part of our ongoing commitment to community education, local schools can also book a waste education session with our Waste Education Officers to support student learning and promote positive waste habits.

The winning name of the competition will be announced in early September.
