AlburyCity and Wodonga Council recently signed a new Two Cities One Community Partnership Agreement, reaffirming their commitment to working together to deliver for our border region.
The partnership has delivered a number of successful initiatives over the five years since its inception in 2017. Some of the most notable achievements include the launch of the Visit, Invest and Live Albury Wodonga initiatives, focused on growing our tourism sector, promoting future investment and job growth, and attracting skilled workers to our region.
The councils have also collaborated on the development of a number of important strategies and plans that look at the Albury Wodonga region as a whole, looking at things like improved infrastructure, digital connectivity, transport, economic development, protecting our natural environment, and more.
Over the coming months the councils will review and update the Two Cities One Community Strategic Plan, which combines the visions and common priorities of both communities, and sets out long-term goals to achieve these.
These goals will guide the review of the Two Cities One Community Action Plan, which identifies the specific projects, strategies and resources that will be delivered to help achieve them.
Community members are invited to complete a short survey to review the goals for Albury Wodonga, rate priorities for the greater region, and suggest areas for future collaboration between our two cities.
AlburyCity Mayor Kylie King encouraged all members of the community to have their say on what they'd like the councils to focus on next.
"The Two Cities One Community Strategic Plan is our guiding light when looking at future collaboration projects across the Albury Wodonga region," Mayor King said.
"Our cities have changed dramatically over the past five years, so we want to make sure we're focusing our efforts in the areas that are most important to our community now."
Wodonga Mayor Kev Poulton urged the community to take the survey and help to shape the future of both cities.
"We've already made great strides as a combined community in the five years of this unique partnership but there are still plenty of opportunities to deliver even more improvements and innovation for both cities," he said.
"We'd very much like our community to help drive that growth by identifying ideas and projects that can be woven into our combined planning to deliver an exciting future for Albury Wodonga."
