King's hosts a second year of careers fairs, employer visits and receptions across China this summer.

Following successful engagements in 2025, King's Careers & Employability returned to China in August, hosting its largest ever series of events to support students, graduates and offer holders engage with employers and discover the range of opportunities available to them, returning to China.
Our Careers in China Fairs are part of a collaboration between three leading UK institutions, King's, Imperial and LSE, which saw over 2,000 current, former or prospective students engaging over 130 employers across Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
This year, the portfolio expanded to Shenzhen, one of China's fastest-growing cities and the home to our student community studying Biomedical programmes at SUSTech.

Alongside four careers fairs in these cities, King's representatives also took the opportunity to meet with employers across the region, expanding our connectivity to key organisations in the country.
King's staff met with representatives from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing and visited the British Council in Shanghai, to understand more about the current dynamics of the Chinese labour market alongside a dinner with representatives from valued partner, LockIn, to understand how we can further enhance our employer partnerships across the Chinese mainland.
In a visit to the country's third largest city, Shenzhen, the team met with academic faculty leading our programmes at King's SKT Medical Campus hosted at SUSTech.

In Hong Kong, an employer roundtable saw representatives from leading financial and professional services, consultancy and legal firms including Citi, Goldman Sachs and Bloomberg sharing updates on their hiring and harnessing best practice on engaging with UK universities.
King's also caught up with alumni including Hinton Wat, a King's Mathematics BSc graduate who works with new graduates joining the firm in the city and with representatives from Odoo, with whom we continue to strenghthen ties.

Strengthening our engagement in region is a key aspect of King's Strategy 2030 and ensuring student success in and beyond the university, which starts from early engagement with offer holders joining the University in September, ensuring they are well equipped for engaging with employers from the start of their programme.
In April, King's won Graduate Initiative of the Year at the UK-China Business Awards for its pioneering work supporting students and graduates throughout the academic year.
The annual Careers in China events in country are merely the culmination of various other workshops, employer presentations, panels, digital learning pathways and a new work-related learning project ensuring our Chinese graduates and offer holders gain real world work experience with Chinese employers, held across the academic year.
Our teams will also be returning to market in spring 2027, working alongside other key King's divisions to showcase our engagement in the region and follow-up on key connections built this summer.

Alongside employer engagement, our alumni communities were convened in the key cities, hosting receptions with local leadership and recent graduates to discuss their own career journey and hear about the latest labour market insight to support our strategic thinking in region.
In Shenzhen, King's Careers & Employability staff worked with colleagues in Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement to host the first ever alumni reception in the city, laying the groundwork for the launch of a formal Alumni Chapter later this autumn across Guangdong Region.

Planning for our 2027 series of events is already underway, with details to follow in spring next year, including an expansion of the cities where careers fairs will be hosted.
