Camden Council is inviting the community to have its say on a long-term plan that will help guide the delivery of the community spaces, libraries, cultural facilities and gathering places that support daily life across Camden.

At last night's Ordinary Meeting, Council endorsed the Draft Camden Social and Cultural Infrastructure Framework for public exhibition. The 20-year framework has been informed by consultation with more than 300 participants and provides an evidence-based roadmap to guide Council's planning, delivery and advocacy for social and cultural infrastructure across the local government area.

The framework will help inform future investment in community centres, libraries, cultural spaces, sporting facilities and other social infrastructure that supports a growing Camden.

Mayor of Camden, Cr Therese Fedeli, said planning for growth meant ensuring residents had access to the facilities that supported connection, participation and wellbeing.

"As one of Australia's fastest-growing communities, Camden is planning not just for more homes, but for the places that bring people together and help communities thrive," she said.

"Libraries, community centres, sporting facilities and cultural spaces all play an important role in bringing people together and supporting healthy, connected communities. These are the things that help places feel like homes - spaces everyone can go to, enjoy, have beautiful experiences and make special memories.

"We're taking a proactive approach by planning for the future now, ensuring the infrastructure our community needs will keep pace with the growth we're experiencing."

The Draft Camden Social and Cultural Infrastructure Framework will go on public exhibition for residents to have their say in the coming weeks.
