Community feedback for the proposed renewal of the King Street Mall Playspace is now open until Sunday 10 August. The upgrade builds on recent lighting and seating improvements in King Street Mall, making the whole space more modern and welcoming.
There are two playspace designs to choose from. Both work within the small, existing footprint and deal with challenges like nearby roads, maintenance paths, utilities, tree roots, vandalism, and high pedestrian traffic.
Option one features a wide slide and various rubber domes for climbing and jumping activities, together with a balance rope and a sprint rocker. It also includes seating around the playspace for supervision and social interaction.
Option two is a layout with equipment similar to the current design. This classic playspace design features a climbing unit, a slide and various seating options.
Either option provides a bright, fun, and safe playspace, perfect for kids aged 2 to 6. The proposed colourful and engaging new equipment and surfacing also supports a range of play types, accessibility needs, and amenities such as seating, shade, and lighting.
