  • Gage Roads Brewery at Victoria Quay in Fremantle and the Vincent Street Heritage Walking Trail in Beverley are among 23 finalists in the 2022 Western Australian Heritage Awards for delivering two unique heritage tourism experiences.

More than 30 nominations were received for this year's awards program, which acknowledges outstanding contributions to heritage conservation, adaptive reuse, promotion, tourism and interpretation.

Six Western Australians have been recognised in the individual award categories for their voluntary or professional commitment to the heritage sector. They include late historian Clare Menck, who researched and authored the recently launched Thematic History of Western Australia.

The 2022 WA Heritage Awards will be presented at the WA Museum Boola Bardip on Friday 25 November. More information on the finalists can be found at: http://www.dplh.wa.gov.au/heritage-awards.

As stated by Heritage Minister David Templeman:

"Gage Roads Fremantle is an excellent example of how a contemporary hospitality venue can be woven seamlessly into the fabric of a historic waterfront site to deliver a memorable visitor experience.

"The Vincent Street Heritage Walking Trail in the vibrant Wheatbelt community of Beverley shines the spotlight not only on its significant State heritage listed buildings but also on the history of the Indigenous Ballardong people.

"The 30th anniversary of the Awards is testament to the commitment of the Heritage Council of Western Australia to recognise Western Australians for their enthusiasm, hard work and success in revitalising many of the State's historic icons.

"I congratulate all the finalists and wish them the best of luck at the 2022 WA Heritage Awards on 25 November."
