On 15 March, ESCWA convened a high-level dialogue part of the AFSD to discuss ways to build back better and deliver the Global Goals. Ministers of planning and finance from the Arab region took part in the dialogue, along with UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed.
As Arab Governments work to recover from the COVID-19 crises, ministries of planning and of finance are pressured to prioritize resources and expand services and social protection coverage.
Panelists agreed to strengthen coherence and sequence the interventions and processes undertaken by both ministries within a whole-of-government approach.
