HKU Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony to Commemorate the 28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held a flag-raising ceremony today (July 1) to mark the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People's Republic of China. The ceremony was attended by Council Chairman Mr Peter Wong, President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Xiang Zhang, members of the Council and Senate, as well as staff, students, and invited guests.

Since its establishment in 1911 with the founding mission of serving as the English-speaking university for China, HKU has been at the forefront of higher education, shaping generations of leaders and innovators who have driven Hong Kong's growth and made meaningful contributions on the global stage. This marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking success, following its climb to 17th globally in 2025.
