The redevelopment has delivered a mix of high-quality new and refurbished modern and flexible learning spaces, an upgraded courtyard, improved science and art areas and better distributed student bathrooms.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the redevelopment delivers new contemporary learning areas and improved outdoor facilities, ensuring the school is equipped to meet the needs of students now and into the future.
"We know high-quality, well-designed learning spaces make a real difference to how students connect, collaborate and thrive at school," Minister Palmer said.
"By investing in state-of-the-art educational facilities like this, we are building caring communities and a stronger Tasmania."
The redevelopment of Hobart City High School began with a $1.6 million investment in early enabling works to support co-educational learning at both the New Town and Ogilvie campuses.
It was followed by a $21.5 million redevelopment of the New Town Campus, which was delivered by Tasmanian firm Vos Construction and Joinery.
The Hobart City High School redevelopment is part of the Tasmanian Government's record investment in education infrastructure across the State, delivering the new and upgraded education facilities that Tasmanian students and school staff deserve.
As part of the 2026-27 Budget, we are delivering upgrades to 15 high priority schools as part of our School Building Blitz.
"Our Government is delivering a strong economy and caring community by investing in the education infrastructure our students and communities need," Minister Palmer said.
