Holiday Guide: Fun for Kids in Any Weather

Townsville City Council is helping families make the most of these rain-soaked school holidays, with its free School Holiday Guide packed full of activities running through to January 26.

With three weeks left until school's back in session, families are being encouraged to access the digital guide, available on Council's website, to find out more about activities, events, and workshops to keep kids entertained and active.

The guide features dozens of low and no-cost events, workshops, crafts, sport and outdoor activities, library and museum programs, and much more, catering for toddlers all the way up to teens.

Townsville Mayor Nick Dametto said the guide was a one-stop-shop for finding the best activities to keep kids busy across Townsville these school holidays.

"Though our recent wet weather may have put a dampener on the Christmas break, many of the activities featured in the free School Holiday Guide can proceed rain, hail, or shine," Cr Dametto said.

"It can certainly be a challenge keeping the kids busy over the holidays at the best of times, and with this wet weather families have no doubt had to spend a little more time indoors than planned.

"But our free School Holiday Guide is an all-weather document – we have plenty of indoor activities including free and fun options at our libraries and galleries, indoor sports such as bungee bounce, dance and gymnastics, as well as a special stage show by none other than SpongeBob SquarePants.

"No matter what your young ones like to do, there is something for everyone to enjoy over these last few weeks of the holidays.

"If you're desperate to get out of the house, or can't stand hearing the kids complain they're bored, jump onto Council's website and take a look at the guide today to discover all the fantastic activities happening across our city."
