Holtze Land Release Takes Another Step Forward

NT Government

To support the future development of Darwin's next urban suburbs, the Territory Labor Government is making Crown land in the Holtze Area development ready.

The Territory Labor Government is investing $186 million for land development from the Top End to Central Australia.

Land in the Greater Holtze area has the potential to produce more than 11,000 additional lots, and has been identified as the next urban residential development for Greater Darwin and will form part of an integrated wider urban development footprint.

To make the first stage of land development ready, the Territory Government is building district level infrastructure such as widening and extending roads, water and sewer mains and electrical feeders.

These works will be preceded by a targeted site clean-up to remove car bodies and other illegal dumping activities.

Territory company, NTEX Pty Ltd, has been awarded a $699,000 contract to undertake the site clean-up works.

Construction of enabling infrastructure for the Holtze land release is planned to be delivered in two main stages (Part A & Part B), including construction of enabling infrastructure comprising sewerage, water supply, power, communications, roads, drainage and landscaping.

These enabling infrastructure works will support development of the Holtze Land Release with the tender for Part A works to be released next week and works anticipated to commence in June, subject to weather. Design of the Part B enabling infrastructure works is underway and is anticipated to be tendered in late 2024.

Any additional enabling infrastructure for the Greater Holtze area is expected to be delivered in future stages, subject to outcomes of planning work under the Greater Holtze Area Plan which is currently underway.

Residential subdivisions are also being delivered in major centres across the Territory including Kilgariff in Alice Springs and in Katherine East.

A developer for the Holtze Land Release is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
