Homicide Investigation: Police Update Operation Victor Lacerta

Police have charged a 24-year-old Hope Island man with unlawful striking causing death following an alleged serious assault that occurred at Sanctuary Cove, Hope Island, on Saturday, May 27.

It will be alleged at approximately 9.20pm, police were called to a Masthead Way premises after reports a 39-year-old was punched in the face by another man who left the scene on foot.

The 39-year-old was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital where he died this morning, June 1.

Police arrested a 24-year-old Hope Island man this afternoon, June 1, at a Maroochydore address.

He has been charged with one count of unlawful striking causing death and is due to appear at Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow, June 2.
