The British Embassy is recruiting an Honorary Consul in Baden-Württemberg to support UK interests and citizens. This is a voluntary role for 4 hours a week.
We are looking for an Honorary Consul in Baden-Württemberg.
As a candidate you should have a very good understanding and knowledge of Baden-Württemberg and an established network that will help you to support British interests and to provide support to British Nationals who find themselves in difficulty. The position may also involve helping the British Embassy respond to a crisis.
As a British Honorary Consul, you will work under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Mission and Consul-General in Berlin and work closely with our consular, internal politics and public diplomacy teams. Depending on the needs of the British Embassy you will have the opportunity to work alongside other sections.

An Honorary Consul is a voluntary position defined by the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
Note that politically active candidates (those standing or elected as representatives of a political party) are not eligible for this position.
Appointment
The appointment will initially be for a term of one year. At the end of the initial term, the appointment may be renewed for a further 3 years, subject to the requirements of the Superintending Post (the Embassy). Any further term will be for 3 years.
Number of hours
You are expected to work no more than 4 hours in an average week.
Honorarium
Your appointment is unsalaried and carries no entitlement to a pension or terminal gratuity or any other benefit. You will receive however, a small annual honorarium.
Requirements
Security Clearance: Your appointment is subject to you receiving security clearance from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Conflicts of interest: You must not engage in any occupation or undertaking which might conflict with the interests of His Majesty's Government.
Exequatur: Your appointment is subject to you receiving an exequatur from the German Foreign Office.
