Honorary Degree For Baroness Neville-Jones

Former senior diplomat and politician Pauline Neville-Jones has received the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws at the July graduation ceremonies.

Baroness Neville-Jones is a Conservative member of the House of Lords, sitting on the Science and Technology Committee. She served as Chairman of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) from 1993 to 1994, on the National Security Council and became Minister of State for Security and Counter Terrorism at the Home Office from 2010 to 2011.

She began her career with the Diplomatic Service serving, among other places, in Washington and the European Commission. She negotiated parts of the German Unification agreements and led the British delegation to the Dayton negotiations on the Bosnia peace settlement.

She subsequently prepared the technology company, QinetiQ, for IPO.

A former BBC Governor, she is a Dame Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George, a Privy Councillor and a Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur.
