Hoppers Crossing: Man Charged After Weapons Found

Police have charged a man after weapons were located in a vehicle in Hoppers Crossing yesterday evening.

Police will allege there was an altercation between a group of people at a shopping centre on Heaths Road about 4.45pm.

Officers responded to reports of a man with a knife and arrested a 20-year-old Wyndham Vale man a short time later.

Police searched his vehicle and allegedly located a machete, knives, knuckledusters, and a firearm.

The man was taken into custody, and has since been charged with:

• Prohibited person possess firearm

• Affray

• (3x) Possess prohibited weapon

• Possess controlled weapon

• Be disguised with unlawful intent

• Behave riotous manner in public place.

He will appear at court on 15 July.
