The Tasmanian Government is celebrating record-breaking statewide occupancy figures for Tasmania in March.
Minister for Hospitality and Small Business, Jane Howlett, said the Tasmanian Hospitality Association's Hotel Occupancy Report showed the highest ever statewide accommodation occupancy for the month of March, with 89.11% of rooms filled.
"These high rates of occupancy are fantastic news for our hardworking business operators, as well as Tasmania's economy more broadly," Minister Howlett said.
"We know Tasmania leads the nation on many fronts, and the world is lining up to visit Tasmania to experience all we have to offer.
"This result reflects the terrific work the THA and business operators are doing to deliver compelling and attractive experiences for visitors to Tasmania.
"As a government we've worked hard, through strong and consistent support of our tourism and hospitality sector locally, to encourage people to come and see what we have to offer and stay in our fantastic accommodation.
"Our Government remains committed to bringing visitors to our State through support for programs like the Business Events Attraction Fund, and Tourism Tasmania continues to promote Tasmania as a unique winter destination through their 'Off Season' marketing campaign.
"And, with the return of Dark Mofo and other exciting events planned for the winter months, we expect these figures to remain strong, providing certainty and confidence for our local providers.
"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we will continue to work hand-in-hand with the hospitality sector to help our businesses grow, invest and create jobs."
