Crime is falling across Victoria.
Youth offending is down 8.1 per cent, and burglary is down 19.9 per cent.
Labor delivered serious consequences and it's working.
But there's more work to do.
That's why we're delivering more police.
New Crime Statistics Agency data shows:
- Criminal incident rates are down 4.6 per cent
- Motor vehicle theft is down 5.2 per cent
- Stealing from a motor vehicle is down 10.4 per cent
- The number of victims is down 7.6 per cent - the biggest decrease in five years.
Labor's tougher bail laws are also delivering serious consequences:
- Bail refusals are up 32 per cent in the Magistrates' Court
- Bail refusals are up 28 per cent in the Children's Court
- Youth bail applications are down.
Despite the positive direction, crime is still too high.
There is more work to do.
That's why the Carroll Labor Government is:
- Recruiting 200 more PSOs and 400 reservists to keep stations open longer
- Supporting police with enhanced search powers
- Delivering Adult Time for Violent Crime and tougher bail laws
The real risk to community safety is Jess Wilson's Liberal-One Nation Coalition.
We all know that you can't cut $40 billion from the budget without cutting the police who keep us safe.
