Hundreds of new jobs coming to Marsden Park

A new warehousing and distribution facility being built at Marsden Park will create more than 650 new jobs following development approval by the NSW Government.

Minister for Planning and Housing, Anthony Roberts, and Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly, today attended a sod-turning ceremony on the 21.5-hectare site where LOGOS is building the $128 million warehousing and distribution facility within the Marsden Park Industrial Precinct.

The development will have seven warehouse buildings constructed in four stages with loading docks, 633 car parking spaces, administration offices, internal roads and on-site landscaping.

"Marsden Park is continuing to evolve, attracting new businesses like LOGOS Property Holdings alongside other major companies such as Costco, IKEA and Lindt which are already operating in the area," Mr Roberts said.

"The value of industrial building approved in Greater Sydney was over $3.75 billion dollars in 2017, an increase of $1.8 billion from the previous year.

"Most Industrial building activity in 2017 occurred in Western Sydney, including in Marsden Park, where employment lands contribute over 220,000 jobs and generate about $125 billion of output for Western Sydney.

"Once complete, this surrounding area will have hundreds of businesses, thousands of new homes and possible future rail infrastructure connections."

Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly, said the approval of the project would provide a boon for Sydney's North West community.

"I'm delighted to say that following public consultation the Marsden Park community now stands to benefit from the creation of hundreds of new jobs close to home".

LOGOS Head of Australia and New Zealand, Darren Searle, said master plan approval for the Marsden Park Logistics Estate provided a pathway for the development of 107,500 square metres of on-site logistics facilities.

"Given the estate's direct access to key motorway networks and excellent amenity from neighbouring retail hubs, we have secured a pre-commitment with Valleyfresh Australia and eStore Logistics to develop a 6,224sqm and 12,515sqm purpose-built facility for them within Stage One," Mr Searle said.

Valleyfresh Australia's import division is recognised as one of the country's leading fresh produce importers, and eStore is Australia's largest third-party logistics provider.

The Department of Planning and Environment has listened to the views of the community and worked closely with Blacktown City Council to address environmental impacts associated with this development.

Mitigation measures include the installation of a 2.5-metre noise barrier along the boundary of the Ingenia Lifestyle estate, new street and perimeter landscaping, and on-site storm water treatment until the precinct-wide storm water management system is complete.

Other concerns resolved include heavy vehicle access and architectural treatment to the buildings' exterior walls. Only two residents objected to the proposal and 14 submissions were received during the public exhibition period.

"We are seeing strong leasing demand in the Sydney basin and, underpinned by the two pre-commitments, LOGOS will immediately begin construction on two speculative facilities within Stage One," Mr Searle said.
