I'm sick...the Bunya Pine

Keep your fingers crossed because we might not see each other again.

Hi, my name is Araucaria bidwillii but you can call me 'the Bunya pine'.

Over the years, you may have visited me on leisurely strolls through the Albury Botanic Gardens or enjoyed picnics with family and friends beneath my majestic dome-shaped branches. Since I moved into the gardens as a sapling, we've shared many fond memories together, which is why I want to let you in on a little secret…

I've come down with a serious case of root rot, so I look less luscious and lively than usual. My good friends, the tree doctors, ran a few tests to find out why I've been feeling sore and weak, and it turns out that heavy rainfall and humid conditions have infected my roots with a fungal disease. Unfortunately, this means that I can't absorb nutrients and water as well as I used to.

Not all hope is lost because the tree experts are working hard to nurse me back to good health. Although I'm under strict orders to rest while my soil bed is being treated, I would love for you to continue visiting me at my home while I recover.
