Visit underlines partnership and collaboration in the use of electronic health records and digital therapies, and for a new Perinatal Mental Health Centre in Indonesia, and follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2024.
The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) was pleased to welcome a delegation from Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Health who visited on May 13 - 15.
The delegation included staff from Republic of Indonesia Ministry of Health and Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital. The visit established a partnership and collaboration in the use of electronic health records and in the development of a new, comprehensive Perinatal Mental Health Centre based at Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital that will provide mental health services to women in the perinatal period.
The visit follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in February 2024 between King's College London and the Marzoeki Mahdi Hospital with a view to partner and collaborate in opportunities in the field of perinatal psychiatry service as well as in the use of electronic health records and digital health.
We are proud to collaborate with the Indonesia government and clinical services in the implementation of their plans for perinatal mental health care and for a national digital transformation. The partnership brings together our respective expertise and desire for a fully integrated approach to mental health research and care based on the development and potential of data mining and digital therapies.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by the IoPPN, and also met with King's College London Global Business Development team for an understanding of the work and research of the University. This was followed by a visit to the Bethlem Royal Hospital for an introduction to Perinatal Mental Health Services and a visit to the Mother and Baby Unit and Community based Perinatal Services

The IoPPN delegation included Professor Matthew Hotopf, IoPPN Executive Dean; Professor Paola Dazzan, IoPPN Vice Dean International Affairs; Professor Sir Robin Murray, Professor of Psychiatric Research; Professor Kallol Ray Chaudhuri, Professor of Movement Disorders and Neurology; Professor Carmine Pariante, Professor of Biological Psychiatry; Professor Richard Dobson, Professor of Medical Bioinformatics; Dr Matthew Broadbent, Clinical Informatics Lead; and Professor Thomas Jamieson Craig, Emeritus Professor of Social Psychiatry.
Joining from King's Global Business Development were Professor Helen Bailey, Deputy Vice President, and Caroline Leppard, Project Officer.
From South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the delegation included Dr Catherine Wilson, Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist, and Dr Trudi Seneviratne, Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist.
