Information sessions and tours at James Bathe Community Hub

Cardinia Shire Council is running free facility tours as it gets ready to open the doors at James Bathe Community and Sports Hub in Pakenham.

The one-hour tours will take place on Thursday 18 February at 10am, 11am and 12.30pm. The tours will give community groups, not-for-profit organisations and businesses the chance to see the facilities and community rooms available for hire for ongoing community services and activities.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, the tours must be booked – to book visit www.cardinia.vic.gov.au/jamesbathetours

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Brett Owen said the facilities at James Bathe Community and Sports Hub combined a new pavilion and extensive sporting facilities.

"This has been designed to meet the future needs of the diverse and growing we have here in Cardinia Shire," he said.

"We've worked closely with the local community and user groups to ensure James Bathe Reserve is a great addition to our community and I encourage those who may wish to hire the new facilities to come along to the upcoming info sessions and tours."

Central Ward Councillor Collin Ross said the pavilion offered three community rooms equipped with tables, chairs, visual and audio capabilities, and a community kitchen.

"This facility is an exciting addition to Cardinia Shire, and we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming open days!" Cr Ross said.

The pavilion also provides for female-friendly sports change rooms, female-friendly design and universally accessible amenities, umpires room, a gym, communications and storage space, cleaner's storeroom, and first aid room.

The James Bathe Reserve precinct includes:

  • two netball courts
  • a multi-use ball court for netball and basketball
  • multi-use nets
  • areas for skateboards and scooters
  • open space areas
  • a nature-based playground
  • barbecues and shelters
  • car parking

The James Bathe Community and Sports Hub is located at 67 Caversham Drive, Pakenham.
