Injured man located near Mt Mary, South Australia

A man has been taken to the Waikerie Hospital with head injuries after he crashed a quad bike near Mt Mary in the Riverland overnight.

Just before midnight, on Tuesday 9 April, police were alerted to a missing quad bike rider in the Mt Mary area in between Eudunda and Morgan.

Two men had allegedly been drinking at local hotel and then decided to ride quad bikes back to ride to their campsite, but only one rider returned.

A search was conducted using local patrols and the police helicopter was called in to assist.

The injured rider a 56-year-old man from Yorke Peninsula was located by the chopper just before 5am disoriented with a head injury.

He has been taken to the Waikerie Hospital is condition is not considered serious or life threatening.

Police are investigating the incident.
