Baiada 12 Days of Christmas Program Takes Shape in Kooyoo

Griffith's new-look Christmas celebrations are taking shape, with an overwhelming response from local businesses, schools, community groups and organisations keen to be part of the Baiada 12 Days of Christmas in Kooyoo.

Running from 1 to 12 December, the event will transform Kooyoo Street Mall into a festive community hub, with a diverse program of activities, entertainment, food and shopping experiences planned across the 12 days.

Following Council's call for Expressions of Interest, the community has embraced the opportunity to get involved, with a fantastic mix of activities proposed.

Visitors can expect everything from delicious food vendors, personalised hats, sashes and ribbons, candles and hair braiding to fundraising barbecues, a children's Christmas card workshop, live music and a community ornament bar and craft station.

The program will also include the annual Toy Run, participation from two local banks and a local high school bringing a mix of food, music and culture to Kooyoo Mall.

Griffith Mayor, Councillor Doug Curran thanked the community for their enthusiasm for the new event.

"We wanted the Baiada 12 Days of Christmas in Kooyoo to be driven by our community and the response we've received has been fantastic," Mayor Curran said.

"The variety of businesses, organisations, schools and community groups wanting to get involved is exactly what we hoped to see.

"There will be something different happening throughout the 12 days, so I encourage everyone to keep an eye out for the full calendar and make plans to come into the space and be part of the celebrations."

At the heart of the festivities will be Griffith's Community Christmas Tree, providing a focal point for the celebrations and a festive backdrop for the activities taking place throughout the program.

The full Baiada 12 Days of Christmas in Kooyoo calendar will be released soon, detailing what's happening each day from 1 to 12 December.

Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on Council's website and social media channels for the full program and further updates.
