Inquiries continue after more than seven kilograms worth of drugs seized in Tuckombil

Two men have been charged after firearms and substantial amounts of drugs were seized during a search warrant at a property in the state's north.

Strike Force Deveril was formed by officers attached to Richmond Police District Drug Unit in November of 2018, to investigate the alleged commercial supply of prohibited drugs in the Tuckombil area.

Following inquiries, about 9.50pm on Saturday 16 February 2019, police executed a search warrant at a home on Bundarra Park Drive, Tuckombil, and arrested two men, aged 37 and 34, who were taken to Lismore Police Station.

During the search, police seized:

- More than 7 kilograms of tablets believed to contain MDA/MDMA, with an estimated street value of $560,000

- Illicit substances believed to be cocaine and cannabis

- Two prohibited firearms and ammunition

- Mobile phones

- Cash

- Gold bars valued at $25,000

- Digital scales

- Heat sealing machine and rolls of heat seal

The 37-year-old man was charged with Supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) w/o authority, possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, deal with proceeds of crime, money/property => $50,000, and possess prohibited drug.

The 34-year-old man was charged with Supply prohibited drug >= large commercial quantity, possess shortened firearm (not pistol) w/o authority, possess unregistered firearm-prohibited firearm, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, deal with proceeds of crime, money/property => $50,000 (x2), and possess prohibited drug (x2).

The pair appeared before Lismore Local Court today (Monday 18 February 2019), and were again refused bail. They will both reappear at Lismore Local Court on Tuesday 16th April.

In a separate search warrant also conducted today (Monday 18th February 2019) a 37-year-old man was arrested at a home on Eltham Road, Alstonville.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station and is assisting police with their inquiries.

During the search, police seized:

- Illicit substances believed to be crystalline, cocaine and cannabis (seeds and cannabis head)

- 10 MDMA pills

- ammunition

- a knife

- a pair of nunchaku
