With 12 months of funded research time, Oscar Lapidus will have the opportunity to broaden his trauma research and take the next step towards becoming a more independent researcher. He is one of nine doctoral students to receive funding in the spring call for applications to the research internship, known as forskar-AT.
Oscar Lapidus, a doctoral student at the Division of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, submitted an application that ranked among the top ten per cent in the call. He will undertake his research period in Malin Jonsson Fagerlund's research group at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, where he will work as a postdoctoral researcher after completing his doctoral degree.
During this period, Oscar Lapidus will be able to continue developing his trauma research. He will also have the opportunity to participate in the research group's ongoing projects in clinical traumatology, blood transfusion and trauma-induced coagulopathy. The latter refers to a condition in which the blood's ability to clot is affected following a serious injury.
"The research internship gives me a valuable opportunity to combine clinical practice with research after completing my doctoral degree. As a postdoctoral researcher, the next step will be to supervise doctoral students, apply for research funding and develop my own research questions. I am looking forward to joining a new research group, broadening my trauma research and continuing to develop towards a more independent research role," says Oscar Lapidus .
The research internship combines clinical medical internship with funded research time. For Oscar Lapidus, this provides an opportunity both to deepen his own research and to gain experience of new projects and ways of working.
