Investigation after Thomastown shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives are investigating the link between two firearm incidents at a property in Thomastown this week.

Emergency services were called to the Barry Road property early this morning (24 January) after people nearby reported hearing gunshots about 1am.

A suspicious device was located and people were evacuated from nearby properties before the area was deemed safe.

Police are now investigating a previously unreported incident which occurred at the same address about 5am on Monday morning (23 January).

It is believed shots were fired into the property and a 40-year-old Thomastown man received a gunshot wound to his arm.

Police are working to establish the exact circumstances around the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
