The Tasmanian Government welcomes today's announcement of $3 million in rebates for drought affected farmers to purchase new on-farm water infrastructure.
The Federal Coalition and Tasmanian governments are delivering $3 million to help make Tasmanian farms more drought resilient, with eligible farmers and producers able to claim up to a quarter of the cost of new purchases and installation of new on-farm infrastructure up to $25,000.
It is critical that governments work with famers to plan for the future and invest in infrastructure to deal with future dry spells.
Rebates are now available for eligible Tasmanian farmers affected by drought.
The 25 per cent rebate can be used for putting in new pipes, water tanks, pumps, distilling dams, and power plants that drive the new water equipment.
Developing water infrastructure to help farmers deal with drought and a changing climate has been a major focus for our nation-leading Tasmanian Irrigation investment model. Which is why the Hodgman Liberal Government is delivering Pipeline to Prosperity – the third tranche of irrigation development across the state.
The State Government will continue to work closely with our farmers and rural communities, particularly in regions affected by drought conditions.
