Investing in the Territory's Cultural Diversity through Harmony Grants

The Territory Labor Government is investing $52,000 for community organisations and schools to create projects, events, and activities that promote cultural diversity and harmony.

The Harmony Grants Program 2018-19 is now open to promote Harmony Day on 21 March next year. The projects however arent limited to this day and events can be held from March to 30 June, 2019.

The 2019 theme is Everyone Belongs which is about celebrating inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for everyone.

Examples of projects, events, and activities that the Harmony Grants can fund include:

School projects that recognise and celebrate student diversity

Traditional dancing performances

Multicultural storytelling and displays

Food and cultural festivals

Art/craft projects e.g. lantern making for the Darwin Waterfront Harmony Soiree

Cultural forums with guest speakers

Open days at community centres

Poetry/essay writing competitions

The Harmony Grants close on 31 October, 2019.
