Iran-born Man Charged Over Visa Breaches In WA

An Iran-born man is set to appear before Perth Magistrates Court today (10 February, 2026) charged for allegedly failing to comply with his visa-mandated conditions.

The AFP charged the man, 31, yesterday (9 February, 2026) after he was located in Perth.

It will be alleged the man breached a condition of his Commonwealth visa by failing to maintain his electronic monitoring device on 3 and 4 February, 2026.

The man has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with electronic monitoring conditions, contrary to section 76D(3) of the Migration Act 1958 (Cth).

This offence carries a maximum penalty of five years' imprisonment and/or a $99,000 fine.
