Territorians can get ready for a mouth watering October - with the Darwin International Laksa Festival back for 2023.
Now in its fifth year, the Darwin International Laksa Festival is a celebration of the Territory's multicultural community, hospitality venues and our shared love of Laksa.
Brought forward from its traditional November date, the festival will now run from 1 - 29 October, encouraging people to eat, vote for and enjoy Darwin's signature dish - Laksa!
This year the laksa loving community can earn points and win prizes through the new app by eating, trying and voting for their favourite dishes throughout the festival.
There will be daily, weekly and major prizes up for grabs for the users with the most points throughout the festival.
In 2023, there are four categories: Darwin's Best Laksa, Regional Best Laksa, Darwin's Best 'Inspired By' Laksa dish and Regional Best 'Inspired By' Laksa dish.
Throughout the month a team of secret laksa connoisseurs will visit businesses participating in the competition to taste and score their laksas.
The secret judges will shortlist their favourite laksa dishes, before a panel of expert judges will then blind taste each of the shortlisted laksa dishes before crowning the winner of the 2023 Golden Bowl at the Festival Finale!
The Festival Finale will be held on Sunday 29 October and will feature Darwin's best restaurants, food vans, market stalls and eateries coming together to celebrate all things laksa.
