Jean Kittson to Speak at 2026 Women's Day Breakfast

International Women's Day was celebrated on Friday 6 March with a breakfast, hosted by Mosman Council at the Mosman Art Gallery, welcoming 130 community members and local school students for a morning of reflection and inspiration.

This year's special guest was Jean Kittson, acclaimed comedian, actor, author and advocate whose sharp wit, social insight and over three decades long contribution to the arts have made her a well known and highly respected voice in Australian entertainment.

In conversation with Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber, she shared thoughtful, humorous and heartfelt reflections on her multifaceted career, from her presence in Australian comedy to her extensive advocacy work spanning women's health.

Kittson highlighted the power of humour and storytelling, to connect with others for shared learning and growth.

"International Women's Day is an opportunity to share our stories and honour the collective strength of women," Kittson said. "When we share our stories with women and men, we all learn and grow. International Women's Day celebrates how far we have come and reminds us how much is yet to be done."

Mosman Mayor Ann Marie Kimber said Jean Kittson's impact extends well beyond the stage and screen.

"Jean is widely admired not only for her career in entertainment, but for her tireless advocacy and her generosity within the community," Mayor Kimber said.

"Her message was engaging, uplifting, relevant and educational, particularly for the school students who joined us. She reminded us that humour, intelligence and compassion are powerful tools for leadership and equality."

International Women's Day, marked globally on 8 March, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while calling for continued action toward gender equality.

The 2026 Mosman IWD Breakfast provided an opportunity for the community to come together, learn from one another and acknowledge the women who drive positive change.
