Jobs on offer at Cairns Jobs Fair

The Morrison Government's Cairns Jobs Fair will bring together job seekers and employers from across Far North Queensland on Tuesday 1 March at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal.

The jobs fair will also include training organisations, trade associations, and employment service providers.

Federal Employment, Workforce, Skills, Small and Family Business Minister Stuart Robert said the jobs fair will promote a wide range of employment opportunities for job seekers looking to get into work.

"The Morrison Government is committed to connecting job seekers with businesses looking to hire, especially here in Cairns," Mr Robert said.

"Getting Queenslanders back to work is at the heart of our Economic Recovery Plan.

"As Employment Minister, I am determined to ensure that job seekers in Cairns and the wider community are given all the assistance they need."

Federal Leichhardt MP Warren Entsch encouraged job seekers in Cairns to take advantage of everything the jobs fair had to offer.

"The event will feature workshops from business and industry professionals to help people get job ready and secure their next role," Mr Entsch said.

"Presentations will also be held on a range of relevant topics and there will be access to assistance with résumés and interview preparation.

"With skills shortages in many industries, this is a great time to be looking for work. These jobs fairs are a fantastic way to meet employers face to face and get a foot in the door."

Assistant Minister for Youth and Employment Services Luke Howarth said the fairs had been held around Australia for four years now and had been successful in connecting thousands of job seekers with those looking to hire.

"More than 62,000 people have attended 55 jobs fairs since they began in 2018," Mr Howarth said.

"We want to help as many people from the Cairns area as possible to find work and improve their prospects, through upskilling and reskilling. Jobs fairs are proving to be highly effective in helping us achieve this goal."

The Cairns Jobs Fair is free and runs from 10 am to 3 pm.

Registrations are encouraged but not essential.
