Jogger seriously injured in hit-run collision at Williamstown

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was seriously injured in a hit and run collision at Williamstown this morning.

Investigators understand the 27-year-old Moonee Ponds man was jogging southbound on Douglas Parade when he was struck from behind by what was believed to be a dark-coloured SUV about 6.10am.

The driver failed to stop at the scene.

The man was assisted by a nearby walker who contacted emergency services.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
