John McLean Named ANZ U.S. Country Head

ANZ today announced John McLean has been appointed ANZ Country Head United States of America, reporting to Simon Ireland, ANZ Managing Director for International.

Mr McLean, who has held the role in an acting capacity since April 2025, brings a breadth of experience from senior banking roles across Australia and the United States. He has spent the last 18 years with ANZ, including seven as Head of Financial Institutions Group, North America, based in New York.

Commenting on Mr McLean's appointment, Mr Ireland said: "John is a seasoned banker and brings a strong foundation of client relationships and proven leadership to this Country Head role, which he has held in an acting capacity since April. After a global search, we knew he was the right person to guide our United States business into the next phase.

"The United States of Amercia has been an important part of ANZ's international network since 1968. Our New York-based team supports trade and investment flows between clients in America with Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

"I'm confident John is the right person to lead our business in the United States, deepening our relationships with key corporate and multinational clients, as well as local and international banks and financial institutions," Mr Ireland said.
